Are you grieving from an Abortion? Trust in the mercy of God’s love. Consider these words from St. John Paul II to those suffering be-cause of abortion: “The church is aware of the many factors which may have influenced your de-cision, and she does not doubt that in many cases it was a painful and even shattering decision. The wound in your heart may not yet have healed. Cer-tainly what happened was and remains terribly wrong. But do not give in to discouragement and do not lose hope….The Father of mercies is ready to give you His forgiveness and His peace in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. You will com...

Sunday, January 6. This is the great 12th Day of Christmas when the Wise Men, following a star, found the king of kings in a manger bed. All Sunday Masses will be joyful celebrations, but the 10:00 multilingual Mass at St. Mary’s will be very special with sounds and flavors of many lands, pageantry, and a grand part for children and their families after Mass. All are invited, but let us know if you’re coming to the party. It helps with planning for food!

Last year a party for children and their families was held at St. Mary Church in celebration of the Epiphany, the Feast of the Three Kings. Over 150 children participated with games, entertainment, lots of food, and a visit from the three kings themselves with small presents for everyone. This year, we invite families with children under 13 years of age to sign up now and join the fun. The party is held at St. Mary Church at 11:30 (after the 9:45 Mass) until 3 p.m. Admission is free. However, a free-will offering will be taken up to help the Parish of Sainte Madeleine, LaGonav, Haiti. We want to teach our children not o...

“Chalking the door” is a way to celebrate and literally mark the occasion of the Epiphany and God’s blessing of our lives and home. With time the chalk will fade. As it does we let the meaning of the symbols written sink into the depths of our heart and be manifest in our words and actions the Latin words, Christus mansionem benedictat, “May Christ bless the house.” Instructions for Blessing the Home Using the blessed chalk mark the lintel of your front door (or front porch step) as follows: 20 + C + M + B + 19 while saying: The three Wise Men, Caspar, Melch...

Plis pase 56 milyon avòtman depi desizyon 1973 Roe v. Wade ak Doe v. Bolton reflete sa Pap Fran-cois vle di pa yon "kilti voye jete". Menm timoun nan premye etap nan lavi yo, yo wè yo tankou bagay yo ka jete si li pa konvenian pou yo. Nou gen yon apèl pou nou make jou anivèsè desizyon Tribinal Siprèm lan, Roe V. Wade. Chak ane, gen yon Mach Nasyo-nal pou Lavi nan Washington D. C. Sa ki pi enpòtan an, moun ki gen bòn volonte pral pran tan pou yo fè jèn, lapriyè ak apwofondi pwòp angajman yo pou pwoteje tout lavi imen. Nou envite w pou fè Madi, 22 janvye yon jou jèn ak lapriyè. The over 56 million abortions since the 1973 decisions of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton reflect the heartbreaking magnitude of what Pope Francis means by a “throwaway culture”. Even children at the earliest stages of life are seen as dispensable if they are not convenient. We are called to mark the day of the Supreme Court Decision, Roe V. Wade. Each year, there is a National March for Life in Washington D.C. Much more importantly, people of good will take time to fast, pray and deepen their own commitment to all human life. You are invited to make Tuesday, January 22 a day of fasting and prayer. Join in ...

The coming Stewardship Sundays in our parish cluster will present us all with such a call. How do we serve? How do we proclaim Christ to those around us? How do we live as faithful citizens in such a needy world? How do we keep the Church’s mission alive? Are you ready to let the Gospel of Jesus Christ take root in your soul in new ways?

Now is the time to consider how to keep Lent which begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6. We start dramatically: in the morning, Catholics will gather to pray and to receive a sign of repent-ance: Ashes placed on our foreheads in the shape of a cross. Then there is the Ash Wednesday fast. We are meant to feel a little hungry on this day. Those who are able limit themselves to no more than one meal (no meat!) and two smaller meals. We also abstain from meat on Fri-days in Lent.  During Lent, we will be preparing, praying, and training in order to take on new roles and ministries in our parishes. As we will discuss on Sun...

On  Sunday, February 10, Fr. Albrecht and Fr. Washabaugh will talk about the steps they see as needed to make our cluster of parishes faithful, vital and sustainable. These steps have to do with our shared mission to God's people in Norwich, administration, sharing, service, and the celebration of our unity in diversity.
