Entries for November 2018

All of us are looking to live the Catholic life as richly and joyfully as we can. There are plenty of us who need a little help, or maybe some “catchup” to come to Catholic practice or to receive the sacraments. We have a way to catch up called the R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). It is flexible and easy to take. What is required is an open heart and open mind, some of your time, and good will. If you want to talk about Catholic practice and the R.C.I.A., contact us at the parish office. We can get you started.

Posted on November 16, 2018 in: St. Mary

Nap fete Jezi Kri Granmèt nou an, wa sou tout fas tè a. Jezikri se wa; Li gouvènen, men gouvènman li an pa la pou kraze. Men, pran nòt: fòtèy wa nou an se yon kwa ak pouvwa li a pa nan kraze brize, ni bay laperèz, men li chita sou renmen ak padon san limit. Kote Jezi pote yon chanje nan jan nou konprann pouvwa chef yo ki chita sou fo jijman, vyolans, enjistis, Egoyis ak Divizyon.

What better theme to end the liturgical year, anticipating the start of the Advent season the following Sunday? Jesus Christ is King; he reigns and will not be overcome. But take note: the throne of our King is a cross and his power is not that of fear, but of love and boundless forgiveness. Rightly, the Church uses this feast to focus on the transformative power of Christ’s Gospel as it confronts the false rulers who perpetuate the reign of violence, injustice, greed and separation.

From the Pastor's Desk

Posted on November 16, 2018 in: St. Joseph

Dear Parishioners: Recently I postponed a scheduled parish pastoral council meeting (scheduled for Nov. 8) because events in our parish were happening faster than I could effectively bring them to the table for a calm "long view". I judged it better to keep you all informed first and very soon to enter into consultations. Here is what is happening: Late in October, the Bethsaida Women's Shelter informed me that they were being absorbed by a larger agency and that they would not be renting our convent building, effective November 1. We are patiently waiting for Bethsaida to remove their equipment, mos...
