Welcome, Mr. Larry Barile!
Bishop Cote has assigned Mr. Larry Barile to our parish cluster for his summer pastoral work, starting June 1st. Larry will be entering his second year of theology this coming fall at Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Weston Massachusetts. Larry is a native son of the diocese, growing up in Coventry and having lived in South Windsor and worked in Wethersfield for over twenty years. Many ethnic groups have embraced St. An-thony as their patron saint, but no people love this saint more than the people of Cape Verde. After all, St. Anthony was Por-tuguese, a culture and language that belongs richly to Cape Verde. Memorial Day. May 28th, 2018 Take a little time on this great national holiday to join in prayer for those who have given their lives for our country and for all of our departed loved ones. There will be an open-air Mass at St. Joseph Cemetery at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day. Msgr. Les Janick, the Vicar General of the diocese and pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown, will preside. In case of inclement weather this Mass will be celebrated in the Cathedral of St. Patrick Cathedral.

There will be a sale of new and quality second hand items, Basket Raffle, Pizza, Popcorn, Ice Cream, Baked Goods. Special activities will be available on Saturday for our children. On Thursday May 24th, Michael Castiblanco was ordained a transitional deacon of the Diocese of Norwich at St. Mary Church of our cluster. Our heartiest congratulations and prayers go to him! This summer, Deacon Michael will serve in the Groton parishes of Sacred Heart and St. Mary before returning to Mount St. Mary Seminary in Maryland to complete his studies.   You’re Invited! Next Sunday, the 10 o’clock Mass at St. Mary Church will be a multicultural Mass in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole. Parishioners from the entire cluster are invited. The occasion is Fr. Washabaugh’s 40 th anniversary of ordination to priesthood. After Mass, there will be a reception in the parish hall at Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
