As you may know, Saint Anthony of Padua was a Franciscan friar of the 12th century who lived, worked and preached in Italy. St. Anthony wasn’t Italian. He was Portuguese, and so he is dearly beloved in Portugal and in every place where Portuguese is spoken. Like St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony belongs to us all. He loved to mediate on Jesus, Our Lord, the Incarnate God, as a little child, innocent, yet all-powerful. You may have seen St. Anthony pictured holding a child in his arms. Look carefully, and you see that the child is seated on a book, the Bible, that is also in the saint’s arms. We see what St. An...

Updates at St Joseph

Posted on May 14, 2019 in: St. Joseph

Improvements The past week or two have certainly been traumatic for everyone concerned. We plan to find a way to continue to celebrate Holy Mass at St. Joseph each Sunday morning with elements of Mass in the Polish language and all of it in the spirit of Polish Catholicism. Please be patient. Finding our way forward demands a spirit of sacrifice and cooperation on everyone’s part. Meanwhile, it is important to report on some of our building and property issues: Our Parking Lot: Many thanks to volunteers from the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen who painted fresh lines on our par...

Dear Friends, The last four years I have spent in St. Joseph and Ss. Peter and Paul, as well as the three years of my work in St. Mary, have been a time of learning and enrichment. Through it, I was growing in appreciation of all of the cultures and nationalities of our cluster community. Thank you for this amazing, learning experience. May the 4th was the pinnacle of it. As I was saying my goodbyes to all of you, exchanging hugs, wishes, and smiles, I was realizing how much each one of you mean to me. Thank you for your presence in my life. A special word of thanks goes to all of the pe...
