The Church celebrates the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua on June 13. Many ethnic groups have embraced St. Anthony as their patron saint, but no people love this saint more than the people of Cape Verde. After all, St. Anthony was Portuguese, a culture and language that belongs richly to Cape Verde. The large Cape Verdean community in Norwich invites you to join them in a special celebration in honor of St. Anthony. It will be held at St. Mary Church at the 4 p.m. Saturday Vigil Mass on June 16. After Mass, we will rededicate the St. Anthony Chapel and share delightful Cape Verdean cuisine and a fine celebration in...

If the weather cooperates, let’s get the entire cluster together for an outdoor summer celebration! The beautiful grounds at Ss. Peter and Paul Church beckon us to hold an outdoor Mass for everyone and then to share a picnic lunch. It is a celebration of our unity in diversity: our many sounds, rhythms, flavors, styles, and cultural charms, all united by the one faith we share. If the day proves to be extraordinarily hot or rainy, we’ll move indoors, but if the weather cooperates, bring a folding chair, a sun hat, maybe a little morsel of food to share, a Frisbee, a volleyball, a blanket, music, or anything els...

Posted on June 28, 2018 in: General News, St. Joseph
