This Christmas, con-sider giving a gift that will give life to a poor child in a terribly poor place. Fr. Fanel Florestal is the pastor of Ste. Marie Magdalene Church, Port de Bonheur on the island of LaGonav in Haiti. He oversees one of the poorest parishes in the poorest country in the Americas. Fr. Fanel’s parish school gives an education and a daily meal to 100 children. Poverty in LaGonav is so intense that for many children, that will be the only meal of the day. There are hundreds more children waiting for the chance to be nour-ished in mind, soul and body at Fr. Fanel’s school. However, the Parish of Ste Marie Magda-lene doesn’t have the funding to serve more chil-dren, to improve its school, or even to pay its teachers regularly.
So we are inviting you to sponsor a student at Ste. Marie Magdalene School for $300/year.
If you become a sponsor, or make a sponsorship as your Christmas gift in another’s name, Fr. Fanel will have the means to give schooling and food to one child. He will be able to make his school stable and se-cure. You will change a child’s life!
To find out more or to sign up as a sponsor, see one of the greeters after Mass, visit our web site, or contact the parish office. Can you think of a gift to fit the mystery of Christmas than reaching out to a child in a land of poverty? Sign up as a sponsor today!
