As Christmas draws near, the celebration of Las Posadas, so popular in Mexico, calls our attention. For nine days before December 25th, people gather to re-enact the drama of Mary and Jo-seph journeying to Bethlehem and seeking a place (una posada) where their child could be born. The dialogue of closed doors and rejection eventually leads to an open door and to welcome.

If you would like to take part in Las Posadas, it is held at St.Mary Church this week each night at 6:30p.m.

May we use this holy season to welcome one another and to welcome all who come to the doors of our parishes seeking warmth, light, and the love of Christ. We are missionary disciples, joined to one another and called, to share our faith with all who surround us. May this Christmas be a time of mutual welcome and of joyful evangelization of all who would know Christ.
