Now is the time to consider how to keep Lent which begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6. We start dramatically: in the morning, Catholics will gather to pray and to receive a sign of repentance: Ashes placed on our foreheads in the shape of a cross. Then there is the Ash Wednesday fast. We are meant to feel a little hungry on this day. Those who are able limit themselves to no more than one meal (no meat!) and two smaller meals. We also abstain from meat on Fridays in Lent.
