During Lent, we will be preparing, praying, and training in order to take on new roles and ministries in our parishes. As we will discuss on Sunday, February 17, we all are called to take active roles in the Church's mission. Once you discern your role, you will have time to enter it thoughtfully, prayerfully and confidently. A vital church document will be available for purchase at our book rack: Pope Francis' apostolic exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel ), 2013. This is the " source document" of our "roadmap" for the future of our parish cluster.

During Lent, we fast. Church law calls on us to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday and to abstain from meat on Fridays in Lent. However, the real test is the fast we choose to make during all 40 days. Here's a suggestion: Take a look at Pope Francis' encyclical, Laudato, Si (On the Care of Creation), 2015. It calls us all to live more simply and spiritually in practical ways, a kind of fast. It will be available for purchase at the book rack.

During Lent, we pray. Daily Mass, the prayer of the rosary, Friday Stations of the Cross are good Lenten practices. So is spiritual reading. We will be sharing a simple book of Lenten reflections with everyone and inviting you to look at materials (CD's, books, pamphlets) at our book rack.

During Lent, we give alms. Thanks go to so many who have sponsored children at Fr. Fanel's school, St. Mary Magdalene in LaGonav, Haiti. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, go to our web site or look for sponsor sheets near the book rack. Thank you also for supporting Catholic Relief Services through.

Operation Rice Bowl. For 48 year s, ORB has helped to feed the hungry poor. It is a program of fasting, learning and giving.
