Ash Wednesday, the solemn inauguration of our 40 day season of spiritual renewal. Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence. We limit our consumption of food (only one full meal / no meat) and we come to church to receive ashes the sign of our repentance and, if possible, to celebrate Holy Mass.
