Sunday Masses!

If you can’t physically attend Sunday Mass because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the canonical obligation to attend Sunday Mass is temporarily suspended. Nevertheless, the obligation to worship the Lord on Sunday remains.  If you cannot come to church for Mass on Sunday because of health concerns, take time at home to pray. Make a “Holy Hour” with the Lord. The Spanish 10:00 a.m. Mass will continue to be live-streamed and the 8:30 a.m. Mass will be recorded from St. Joseph Church and later posted on our cluster website.

Guidelines for Attending Sunday Mass

Those who are sick or symptomatic must stay home. At Saints. Peter & Paul Church, a maximum of 70 people can gather at each of our two Sunday Masses. Face masks are mandated. Maintain a 6 ft. radius of distance from all those who are not in the same household.  A large basket will be placed in the middle of the center aisle for your offerings.  People should make sure to leave little by little, maintaining social distance.

Catechism    2020-2021 Update  

Catechism classes for St. Joseph and Sts. Peter & Paul Church ( grades 1-7) will be ONLINE indefinitely until the heating system gets fixed in the St. Joseph Rectory. Catechists will be reaching out to parents directly to send the class links. Classes will being at 11a.m. to allow time for families attending Mass in person to make it home. If you have any questions please reply to this email or reach out directly to Maria Junco. Please continue to pray for our children and catechists as we begin a new catechetical year.

Youth Ministry

Our youth ministry program will be starting a week after our catechism program! We invite teens in grades 8-12 to come build community, learn about what it means to be Catholic, and HAVE FUN! Our tentative start date for the kick-off social is Sunday, November 8th, 4 - 6p.m., at St. Mary Church. We cannot wait to welcome our teens back, with an awesome social night to kick-off the season.  Our youth ministry program will be starting alongside our catechism program!

This Monday, November 2

All Souls’ Day (Commemoration of the Faithful Departed). There is a morning Mass at St. Joseph Church at 8 a.m. and an evening multicultural Mass at St. Mary’s at 6:30 p.m. The names of all those buried from our parish as well as the names you have asked us to include are written in the Book of Commemoration which will be located near the altar throughout the month of November. These faithful departed will be included in the prayers of All Souls’ Day and of all Masses throughout this month.

Election Day

This Tuesday is Election Day. If you haven’t already voted, be sure to do so! ….and pray for our country and our world, that wounds may be mended, divisions healed, and the needs of our times may be addressed with truth and justice.
 

Now, more than ever….

We are in need of prayer, repentance, courage, and devotion to the presence of Christ among us. In past years, the great tradition of 40 Hours Devotion was held at the end of summer. This year, plan to take time to become an intercessor for our Church and our world at the beginning of Advent. This very important time of prayer will take place at St. Joseph Church on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, December 4, 5, and 6.

A blessed All Saints day to you and your families. This solemnity on the Church’s calendar is a day to honor all the saints, known and unknown. Today also begins National Vocation Awareness Week, a fitting reminder of our need for saints in every vocation.                      Bereavement Day of Prayer 

 The Diocesan Catholic Family Services Office is sponsoring a virtual workshop for the bereaved entitled: Praying Your Goodbyes on Saturday, November 21 from 10 A.M. to 12:15 P.M.  It will include time for private reflection, prayer and journaling and give participants suggestions on how to navigate the upcoming holidays and discover ways to grow through the experience of their loss. There is no cost, but registration is required by contacting Mary-Jo McLaughlin at Catholic Family Services, 860-848-2237, ext. 312 or by email at mmclaughlin@norwichdiocese.net

Looking Ahead

Pro Life Mass The monthly Diocesan Pro-Life Mass will take place at The Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich on Saturday, November 7 at 8:30 A.M. Please join our celebrant Rev. Ray Introvigne at Mass as we pray to end abortion and for the healing for those who have had an abortion. Following the Mass, the Rosary will be prayed both at the Cathedral and Planned Parenthood.
Virtual Project Rachel Rosary
The third Tuesday of each month at 3pm, come and pray the Project Rachel Rosary online with the Office of Faith Events.  The Project Rachel Rosary focuses on putting an end to abortion and healing for those who have been involved in an abortion.  Our first Rosary will begin on November 17th.

Diocesan Advent Mission
The Office of Faith Events is offering a virtual Diocesan Advent Mission. It will take place the first three Thursdays in December at 7 P.M. beginning on December 3rd. The mission will focus on three of the themes of Advent: Patience, Love and Peace. There is no cost to participate in the Advent Mission, but registration is required. Saint Vincent de Paul Place 's community meals program increased 26% since the COVID-19 shut down began and our food pantry sign ups have increased 31%.  The increase in need from the pandemic grows daily. Misa Dominical

Si no puedes asistir físicamente a la eucaristía dominical debido a la pandemia de COVID-19, la obligación canónica de asistir a la eucaristía dominical se suspende temporalmente. Sin embargo, la obligación de adorar al Señor el domingo permanece. Haga una "hora santa" con el Señor. La eucaristía se puede ver el domingo por la mañana a las 10:00 a.m. por nuestra pagina de Facebook vinculada aquí.

Ministerio Juvenil

¡Nuestro programa de pastoral juvenil comenzará junto con nuestro programa de catecismo! Invitamos a los adolescentes en los grados 8-12 a que vengan a construir una comunidad, aprendan sobre lo que significa ser católico y ¡DIVERTIRSE! Nuestra fecha tentativa de inicio para el evento social de inicio es el domingo 8 de noviembre a las 4 p.m. en la iglesia de St. Mary. Como muchos de ustedes saben, las escuelas públicas de Norwich han retrasado el inicio de sus clases en persona una semana más. Porque si tomamos esta decisión también hemos decidido adelantar nuestro inicio de catecismo para el domingo 1 de noviembre. Si tiene un hijo registrado para el catecismo, asegúrese de que tengamos su dirección de correo electrónico más actualizada y asegúrese de revisarla con frecuencia. Continúe orando por los niños, las familias y los catequistas de nuestro grupo para que podamos tener un año catequético divertido y seguro. Oración por Nuestros Fieles Difuntos

El lunes 2 de noviembre es el Día de los Difuntos (Conmemoración de los Fieles Difuntos). El horario para las eucaristías de este dia en nuestro Cluster Parroquial:
8:30 a.m. Iglesia de San José (inglés)
6:30 pm. Iglesia de Santa María (español y creole haitiano)
Ese día y en todas las eucaristías de noviembre, estaremos recordando a los fieles difuntos de nuestras parroquias y nuestras familias. Cerca del altar se colocará un Libro de Conmemoración con los nombres de nuestros seres queridos. Escriba los nombres de las personas que desea recordar en nuestras oraciones de noviembre en su sobre del Día de los Difuntos y colóquelo en la canasta de ofrendas el domingo 25 de octubre o antes.

San Vicente de Paul

El programa de comidas comunitarias de Saint Vincent de Paul aumentó un 26% desde que comenzó el cierre de COVID-19 y nuestras inscripciones en la despensa de alimentos aumentaron un 31%. No nos hemos perdido ni un día ni una comida desde el cierre. El día 16 de septiembre distribuimos un récord de 8.134 comidas. El aumento de las necesidades por la pandemia crece día a día. Fiesta de San Martín de Porres

El día 03 de noviembre los invitamos a la Santa Eucaristía en honor a San Mattín  de Porres. La vida de San Martín de Porres nos inspira en estos tiempos de dificultad y nos invita a buscar la Voluntad de Dios en cada acontecimiento y a abandonarnos a ella con humildad y confianza. Que "Fray Escoba" como es conocido San Martín de Porres, interceda por cada una de nuestras naciones, especialmente esta que nos ha acogido.
 
 

Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de la Providencia

Con gran gozo deseamos invitar a toda la comunida para celebrar la Fiesta en Honor a nuestra Señora de la Providencia, el día 19 de Noviembre, a las 6:30 p.m. Como preparacion a esta celebración tendremos un triduo el 16, 17 y 18 de noviembre a las 6:30 p.m. Todo se llevará a cabo en la Iglesia Saint Mary. Los esperamos a Todos!!!
 

Eucaristía Pro-Vida

La Eucaristía Diocesana Pro-Vida mensual se llevará a cabo en la Catedral de San Patricio en Norwich el sábado 7 de noviembre a las 8:30 A.M. Únase a nuestro celebrante Rev. Ray Introvigne en la Misa mientras oramos para poner fin al aborto y por la sanaciónde quienes han tenido un aborto. Después de la Eucaristía, se rezará el Rosario tanto en la Catedral como en Planned Parenthood
