The origin and foundation of Christian Baptism lie in the example and command of Jesus himself. Through his own baptism, Jesus demonstrated his solidarity with humanity and his desire to reconcile sinners with the Father. By establishing Baptism as a sacrament of the Church, Jesus provided believers with a sacred ritual through which they can experience God's grace and be united with Christ in his death and resurrection. Baptism is a sign of our commitment to Christ and a means of grace through which the Holy Spirit empowers us to live lives of holiness and discipleship. As followers of Christ, may we embrace the gift of Baptism and commit ourselves to walking in the light of Christ, trusting in his wisdom, and loving him with all our hearts.
