Pray and Act for the Care of God’s Creation

The recent United Nations Climate Report found that “Human activities, principally through emissions of greenhouse gases, have unequivocally caused global warming. ….Climate change is a threat to human well-being and planetary health.  There is a rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all. ….Human-caused climate change is already affecting many weather and climate extremes in every region across the globe.”

No public voice has spoken more forcefully about our responsibility to care for God’s creation than Pope Francis. In 2016, Pope Francis issued an encyclical, Laudato Si, inviting Catholics and all people of goodwill to do all they can to address the causes of climate change. This year make October 4th, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, a special day of prayer for the care of God’s creation.
